I want these shoes!

Aren't these adorable? Polka dots always get me. The different shades of pink and peach are lovely, and they'd go so well with the rest of my wardrobe! :)

Welcome back, old friend!

I can't believe it's been more than 2 months since I've written here! In that duration, however, I managed to re-read the wonderful novel, Gone With The Wind, by Margaret Mitchell. It has always been a favorite of mine and never fails to keep me enthralled from the first page to the last!

After finishing the book which I now know so well, I began to wonder about the woman behind the novel. I found a biography on Margaret Mitchell at the library entitled Road to Tara: The Life of Margaret Mitchell, by Anne Edwards.

Although I am not normally a biography fan, this story, which followed Ms. Mitchell's life from her earliest beginnings through the fame of the novel and film and beyond, was incredibly interesting to me. Ms. Mitchell was, despite the vivacious and outgoing character she created in Scarlett O'Hara, a very shy and reclusive woman who seemed to value her privacy above all else. During the 7 year process of writing Gone With The Wind, she did not believe that anyone would ever really want to read it, let alone think that her novel could be published. To think of how many lives her story touched, including my own, is incredible and gives me hope that someone might want to read this blog someday! :)

Sadly, in 1949, Margaret Mitchell was struck by a vehicle and passed away 5 days later, never regaining consciousness or witnessing the long-reaching effects her novel had on the world.

As an avid reader of the novel and fan of the movie, I was very pleased to be able to have this insight into Ms. Mitchell's life and this biography is highly recommended to anyone with similar interests!
